After a Boston firefighter was killed in a crash when the brakes on his ladder truck failed, Mayor James Fiorentini ordered all brakes cheked on city Fire Department vehicles. Fire Chief Richard Borden said a review performed Thursday, Jan. 15, showed all vehicles with air brakes, including the bucket truck used for traffic maintenance, met service standards.

DUBUQUE (AP) - An Independence man has been arrested on a drunken driving charge and a charge of impersonating an officer. Dubuque police say Zachary Ryan, 19, was arrested early Sunday. He is accused of using a flashing blue light to resemble an emergency vehicle.
